5 tips for writing the perfect cover letter
Writing a strong cover letter and resume is hard, and standing out from the crowd can be challenging. To help you out, we’ve put together a few tips on how to write a cover letter that will get you noticed by our recruiters:
- Start strong
Think of a creative way to introduce yourself in your cover letter that catches people’s attention. Let us know who you are and what you can bring to the team.
- Don’t recite your resume
Most people simply copy and paste from their resume and change up the wording, but this won’t separate you from the pack. An excellent cover letter will highlight the skills you’ve developed and provide context for the recruiter. For example, you may say “While working in a fast-paced environment at Company ABC, I was responsible for X task and developed my Y skills.”
- Don’t write a novel
Keep it short, sweet, and to one page. Recruiters are busy people and don’t have a lot of time to read through lengthy resumes. Be clear and concise!
- Why Bell?
Let us know why you want to work at Bell. Don’t just recite what is on our website, make it personal. Speak to our values, mental health initiatives, commitment to innovation, or anything else that makes you want to join the Bell team.
- Highlight your strengths
It’s your time to shine! Confidently speak about your skills and accomplishments, and tell us why you’re a perfect candidate for the position.
