Essential March Break travel accessories

With March Break around the corner, many of us are packing up and getting ready to take off for a quick escape. Whether you’re heading out for some fun in the sun, or exploring the sights and taking in the culture of another country, having a few tech accessories with you can help you make the most of your vacation.

I’m currently packing my suitcase for my trip to Iceland and thought I’d share my check list:

Power Bank

When I’m travelling, I use my phone for everything from figuring out how to talk with the locals using a translation app, to mapping my location when I’m lost in an unfamiliar place – as a result, my battery drains pretty quickly. That’s why I’m packing a power bank to ensure that I can charge my phone wherever I go. It’s a lifesaver during long waits at the airport when my battery is low, and I’m in the middle of an intense game of Candy Crush Saga. Just remember to bring all your charging cables and don’t forget to recharge your power bank before you leave the hotel.

Selfie Stick

If you’re a shutterbug like me, you might want to carry a selfie stick with you. Sure, there are usually other tourists at popular attractions that you can ask to snap a photo for you, but do they know your good angles? I like the control that a selfie stick gives me – I can hide that second chin by taking a shot from a 45 degree angle above my head. It takes some practice, but Instagram filters and editing tools are a great help too.

Portable Bluetooth speakers or headphones

Every trip needs a soundtrack. Don’t forget to load your favourite playlists on your phone or music player before you leave, and make sure you have headphones handy for the journey. I also like to bring my portable Bluetooth speaker so I can enjoy my tunes in my hotel room.

Smart Watch

I feel a little guilty about skipping the gym while I’m away, so I’m bringing my smart watch to help me determine how much exercise I’m getting out of my vacation activities. It will allow me to monitor my heart rate and keep track of the number of steps I’m taking, so that I can spend more time trekking across glaciers if I want to meet my daily step count. But even if you’re just planning to rest and lay on a beach on your vacation, a smart watch or health tracker lets you measure exactly how relaxed you are.

The bottom line

Wherever you plan to go, a great set of travel accessories can enhance your experiences. Being prepared with some of these gadgets will help you make the most of your mobile devices, so you can capture memories and enjoy every moment. And don’t forget to add a travel feature to your mobile service before you leave so that you can stay connected (If you’re a Bell customer, you can add a travel feature with the MyBell app any time).

Safe and happy travels, friends!
